Company Description
Duffy & Duffy, PLLC specializes in medical malpractice and general personal injury claims on behalf of injured parties only. The firm handles complex claims in both State and Federal Courts and also accepts referrals from other attorneys. Cases are pending from Riverhead to all parts of New York City and other New York and out-of-state locations. Initial appointments and meetings are free, and fees are based on a "contingency" arrangement.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Associate Attorney role located in Uniondale, NY at Duffy & Duffy, PLLC. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice, conducting research, negotiating settlements, and handling cases related to medical malpractice and personal injury claims.
Job Duties
Working with medical experts to develop case theories, expert reports and testimony to support the plaintiff's case.
Taking depositions of medical experts, medical personnel and other third parties (in addition to the plaintiff and defendant).
Gathering and analyzing medical records.
Performing medical research relating to the plaintiff's condition.
Working with legal nurse consultants to analyze case merits and review medical records.
Organizing and managing a case list.
Qualifications
- 5-7 minimum years of experience in Medical Malpractice
- Legal advice and negotiation skills
- Experience in labor and employment law
- Proficient in legal research
- Strong understanding of Law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Salary depends on experience
