Job Summary

JGKMW is seeking an associate attorney to join our Seattle office. Our office operates a hybrid work model, although employees can choose to work full-time in the office if preferred. Associates must be able to travel to local courts as necessary.


Our firm focuses on defending healthcare providers against claims of medical malpractice and responding to investigations from State medical and nursing licensing boards. Our firm has been in existence for over 50 years and our lawyers have been recognized by State and National organizations that rate legal talent.


We are looking for an associate to assist in all aspects of litigation, including managing discovery, meeting with expert witnesses, and taking depositions. Our goal is to assist associates in developing their practice to the point of defending our clients at trial.


Candidates with at least two years of litigation experience (civil or criminal) will be considered.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct research using tools such as Westlaw.
  • Draft and respond to written discovery.
  • Conduct meetings with clients, witnesses, and experts.
  • Draft timely reports.
  • Attend and conduct depositions.
  • Draft and argue motions.
  • Draft pre-trial documents, including trial briefs, jury instructions, and motions in limine.
  • Assist at trial as "second chair" until experience permits, eventually trying cases as "first chair."
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met.

Requirements

  • Admitted to the Washington State Bar
  • Two years of litigation experienced required.
  • Experience in or a demonstrated interest in healthcare or medicine is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel for depositions and/or court hearings (primarily local; very occasionally out-of-state).

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 DOE
