Position Description

We are seeking a highly motivated associate attorney who will be responsible for assisting in, as well as solely handling, the defense of insurance-related claims. This position offers the chance to work directly with experienced attorneys and insurance claims examiners to gain exposure in all aspects of litigation: from legal research, brief writing, taking depositions, attending court hearings and mediations, to trial preparation. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, with a strong desire to grow within the field through establishing and fostering direct client contacts, both locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in insurance defense matters, including personal injury, construction defect, professional liability, coverage and bad faith cases.

  • Draft and review legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses.

  • Assist in trial preparation, including conducting depositions, attending hearings, and motions practice.

  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and provide recommendations.

  • Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses.

  • Maintain and manage case files, ensuring all deadlines are met.

  • Assist in settlement negotiations and mediations.

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop strategies and tactics for cases.

Qualifications

  • MUST HAVE: Current Montana Bar License (in good standing).

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Preferred Experience

  • Comprehensive use and knowledge of Clio billing and case management system
