Our client is seeking a Full time Associate Attorney to join its growing Professional Liability practice. The firm represents attorneys and businesses across Georgia in complex legal malpractice litigation and disciplinary matters before the State Bar. The team also regularly advises lawyers and law firms on ethical issues and best practices in legal operations.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Associate Attorney will:
- Evaluate new matters and contribute to case strategy
- Investigate and prepare responses to State Bar disciplinary complaints
- Provide counsel on ethics and legal practice management
- Handle written discovery and manage e-discovery tasks
- Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
- Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
- Argue motions and attend court hearings
- Assist lead counsel in preparing for and participating in trials
- Communicate regularly with clients and insurance carriers
- Participate in firm-sponsored business development events and retreats
- Attend team meetings and engage in ongoing professional training
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (Top 50% of graduating class)
- Law review or moot court experience preferred
- Active and in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia
- No history of malpractice claims or disciplinary actions
- 1-4 years of litigation experience, including motion practice, discovery, and depositions
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in insurance defense
- Experience with legal ethics or responding to disciplinary matters
- Familiarity with tools like Westlaw, Relativity, and CLIO (Manage & Grow)
