Position Summary

DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Women's Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Women's Basketball Coach in administering all aspects of the varsity women's basketball program; and performing assigned administrative duties within the Athletics & Recreation Department.

  • Efficient and thorough administration of College, Department, NCAA, and MAC policies and functions.

  • Effective support for the Athletics & Recreation Department through administrative duties.
Essential Functions

Assistant Basketball Coach (90%)
  • Coaching student-athletes in practice and in competition primarily teaching skills and strategies, providing guidance in physical and mental development, and conveying program values.
  • Provide academic and appropriate personal guidance.
  • Scout, identify, and communicate with prospective student-athletes and their families.
  • General organization, scouting opponents, practice planning, travel coordination, etc.
Assigned Administrative Duties 10%
  • Assist department directors in one of the following areas: event management, departmental fundraising, strength and conditioning coaching, admissions collaboration, camp coordination, compliance assistance.
Experience and Education Required
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in organized, competitive basketball.
  • Thorough understanding of NCAA governing rules.
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to coach and teach; appropriate knowledge and effective communication/interaction skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collegiate setting with enrolled and prospective students and their families, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and the greater College community.
  • Commitment to professionalism and serving as a positive role model.
