SUMMARY:
The Assistant Warehouse Manager works with the Warehouse Manager supervising the Warehouse employees who are responsible for the distribution of building materials (exterior building products) to residential and commercial builders and contractors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:
- Ensuring that safe and efficient practices are followed by all warehouse staff.
- Providing and ensuring staff provides a high level of service to customers waiting for materials.
- Working with and providing direction and supervision to warehouse staff.
- Oversees the receipt and storage of new stock and the accurate picking and loading of materials for delivery.
- Assisting the Warehouse Manager with the coordination and scheduling of people, vehicles and equipment required to efficiently meet delivery requirements.
- Works with Warehouse Manager to maintain physical condition of warehouse and yards.
- Assists with training new staff and maintaining compliance with all local, state and Federal requirements and enforces adherence to all requirements.
- Inspecting all vehicles bi-weekly and reporting the findings to the Warehouse Manager on inspection week
- Overseeing/maintaining fleet needs - repairs (report to warehouse manager all repairs and timetable)
- Overseeing/maintaining driver paperwork (month end reporting)
- Monitors all vehicle accident reports to make sure they are completed
- Monitors forklift inspections, reports and discusses all repairs with Warehouse Manager
- Assisting with other warehouse work including loading, unloading, cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and yards. Directing and assisting with the moving/ lifting heavy materials by hand.
- Handling administrative and supervisory responsibilities.
- Follows up on daily projects delegated (discuss completed tasks, tasks not complete, or any with issues).
- Maintains lists for forklifts / active trucks in fleet / warehouse radios / cell phones updated and current with Warehouse Manager.
- Overseeing/ facilitating utility van usage.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years of related work experience and/or training in commercial distribution, including group leader or supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Experience working with or the ability to learn an automated ERP system required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's . Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Employee must have valid driver's license.
