TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This coaching position is tied to a ten (10) month teacher contract (205 days), plus stipend and benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement on the salary range will be determined based upon experience and education. FLSA: EXEMPT

TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

Anticipated Start Date: This Position Begins 2025-26 School Year

NOTE: The successful candidate must have a willingness to participate in on-going professional development summer and continuing throughout the school year both on and off contract times when requested by the Administration. Appropriate compensation will be given within the compensation guidelines of licensed personnel.

Job Goal:

To help students master subject content and credentialing skills that contribute to their educational, social development, and career/college readiness, incorporating a framework clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in the assigned sport. Contribute to the education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so they are successfully competitive.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Must have experience or a desire to work in a diverse school district
  2. Enhanced knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  3. Knowledge of Arkansas Activities Association (AAA Handbook) rules
  4. Demonstrate the ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
  5. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  6. A Bachelor's degree minimum.
  7. Must have a valid Arkansas teacher's license.
  8. Must meet State Department of Education requirements for coaching endorsement.
  9. Must meet Arkansas Activities Association requirements for coaches.
  10. Knowledge of Arkansas Activities Association (AAA Handbook) rules
  11. Evidence of strong commitment to quality education

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.
  1. Planning and Preparation: Plans, prepares, and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences, demonstrating pedagogy, knowledge of students, instructional goals, knowledge of resources, coherent instruction, and assessing student learning.
  2. Classroom Environment: Establishes a culture of learning: managing classroom procedure and student behavior, as well as organizing physical space. Applies appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  3. Instruction: Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved - communicating with students, using questioning and discussion techniques, engaging students in learning, using assessment in instruction, and utilizing technology. Effectively infuses technology into instructional activities and the overall learning experiences.
  4. Professional Responsibilities: Develops and adheres to professional responsibilities - reflecting on teaching, maintaining accurate records, communication with families, contributing to the assigned School and the District at large, growing and developing professionally, showing professionalism, using data to inform instruction.
  5. Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assigned.
  6. Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect and good sportsmanship.
  7. Work with other members of the school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
  8. Ensure that all coaches on staff work together toward a common goal with in program and provide unity with the feeder schools.
  9. Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
  10. Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and facilities.
  11. Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
  12. Work with the Director of Athletics and athletic coordinator to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
  13. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program.
  14. Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.
  15. Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  16. Maintains, files, and copies all pertinent LRSD/AAA materials, eligibility forms, transfer forms, grade reports, and ensures the LRSD/AAA guidelines are followed.
  17. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of conduct and student handbook.
  18. Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
  19. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, athletic coordinators and Director of Athletics.
  20. Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within program.
  21. Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.
  22. Annually establish and meet performance goals.
  23. The Principal or his/her designee may assign other duties and accountabilities limited to those consistent with the applicable job function.
  24. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students in an academy structure.
  25. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  26. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in sport involved.
  27. Develop an academic program for student-athlete for NCAA Clearinghouse scholarship eligibility and ACT preparation.
  28. Adheres to District, State and Arkansas Activities Association's regulations regarding eligibility of players.
  29. Perform other duties as assigned

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, and operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
