This comprehensive approach enables us to effectively manage our operations; each year, we handle over 100,000 work orders, optimizing our facilities to support the diverse and emerging needs of our patients and community.

Position:
The Assistant Vice President, Facilities & Operations oversees all aspects of technical operations and works with upper management to develop compliance programs. Further, the Assistant VP, Facilities & Operations serves as a mentor and leader to staff.
Core Responsibilities:
- Create and execute plans to improve systems and enhance building controls. Manages the budgets of all applicable departments and ensures that projects fit economic parameters.
- Maintain an attractive, welcoming, and safe facility environment.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and supervision of staff, and prepare performance reports.
- Define and implement projects and best practices.
- Assist in internal audits and compliance tests.
- Ensure internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
- Create an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.
Department Specific Functions:
Plant Operations and Building Maintenance
- Manage all facilities maintenance and operations, including a team of about 115 skilled maintenance, administrative, and support staff.
- Regularly inspect campus areas and meet with stakeholders to ensure high maintenance standards.
- Work with project managers, architects, and engineers to plan new construction and renovations, ensuring they are cost-effective and meet departmental standards.
Energy and Utilities Management
- Manage the University's energy and utilities department. Develop and implement sustainable, cost-saving energy projects by tracking and analyzing energy use.
Business Continuity
- Ensure facilities are always prepared for emergencies and play a key role in emergency responses.
Work Order Management
- Collaborate with management to assess university conditions and keep the facilities database up to date. Prepare reports for senior administration.
Quality and Internal Controls
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary improvements.
- Create and maintain best practices and standard operating procedures for all aspects of Facilities & Operations, including compliance, quality control, construction, asset management, personnel, safety, energy, and financial management.
Compliance and Safety
- Develop training programs to ensure Facilities staff are knowledgeable about current codes, regulations, and internal policies, particularly JCAHO, AHCA, and OSHA.
- Ensure all building systems and equipment meet Joint Commission, Environment of Care, Life Safety, and other regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with all Agencies Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) including OSHA, fire codes, city ordinances, etc.
Stewardship
- Budget Management: Oversee budget management, including contracts, consultants, and bidding processes. Prepare and manage yearly budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure effective use of funds.
- Vendor Management: Manage outsourced vendors, contractors, and consultants, including Environmental Services. Ensure they meet contractual obligations and performance expectations.
- Staff Management: Ensure Facilities & Operations staff have the necessary skills through hiring, development, and performance management.

Core Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in relevant field
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
