Avencia Consulting is partnering with a leading Fortune 500 insurer to recruit an Assistant Underwriter in their Leeds office.

The role involves supporting the renewals department, handling a range of Professional and Management risks, including Cyber and Technology risks. This is a growing area within a well-established team that works on projects to enhance business processes.

The focus is on providing underwriting support to underwriters and brokers, building strong internal and external relationships, and assisting across all business classes.


What you'll be doing


Underwriting risks within personal underwriting authority.
Providing excellent service to brokers, prioritising renewals, mid-term adjustments, and referrals received via the e-trading platform, Acturis, or by email/phone.
Handling incoming calls to the team promptly and professionally.
Diarising and following up on renewals with brokers to secure and retain business.
Managing internal and external enquiries via email and phone.
Reviewing broker-generated activities, promoting the benefits of products, and negotiating terms.
Analysing broker performance and reporting findings to the team manager.
Managing renewal cases, working with brokers to secure renewals and upsell/cross-sell additional coverages.
Requesting and reviewing survey reports, issuing risk requirements to brokers.
Managing diary items and following up on outstanding responses.
Collaborating with Technical teams in Leeds and across the wider business.
Assisting with ad hoc projects as required.


Our must-haves


Proven insurance experience and strong technical skills.
Experience in relevant classes of business is desirable but not essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong numerical abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
Willingness to study for or currently pursuing CII qualifications.
