Assistant to the Housewares Department Head

Downtown Ace Hardware is looking for a qualified Assistant

to the Housewares Department Head that will uphold our legacy of excellent

customer service, who will exceed customers' expectations by delivering

consistent, knowledgeable, and friendly service every time.

An effective Assistant to the Housewares Department Head will

maximize productivity, identify opportunities and set high standards. They must

demonstrate knowledge of the store's procedures, purpose and goals.

They must work well within a team and be goal oriented. They must

be dependable, engaged, and energetic in their work.

Minimum Requirements

At least two years of hands-on experience in housewares or specialty gift retail.

Expertise in elevating product appeal through impactful merchandising strategies.

A positive attitude and a willingness to address and solve problems quickly.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with a high degree of detail.

Able to be on your feet for up to 8 hours daily.

Able to lift 40 lbs.

What to Expect

You will assist the Housewares Department Head with:

providing World Class Customer Service in the Houseware Department and

throughout the store,

exceed customer service expectations following our WOW process,

strategic product positioning and visually compelling themed displays,

resolve customer issues quickly and professionally,

collaborating with the Housewares Department Head, Store Manager, and

Owner to select and procure merchandise that enhances the store's assortment,

maintaining product assortment and backstock organization.

Other Responsibilities

Become proficient in all store technologies: POS system, mobile devices, Ace app,

inventory system, Microsoft Office. Engage in a fast-paced, high energy, multi-directional

work environment. Receive, price, and merchandise outside vendor orders. Keep a clean,

tidy, and organized department. Initiate and lead cycle-counting processes and inventory

maintenance.

Availability:

Requires weekends, evenings, holidays. 40 hours per week. The store is closed on Easter,

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.

Compensation:

Pay range $16.50 to $17.50 per hour, with potential for higher pay based on skill level

and experience.
