Job Description Summary: Assistant Teaching Professor / Assistant Lecturer position will teach multiple sections of BUS 102: Foundations of Business Communication and provide service to students, the institution, and the discipline. BUS 102: Foundations of Business Communication is part of the required First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) curriculum for all Farmer School of Business majors. The FYIC is an innovative four-course bundle that teaches students key skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, computational thinking & coding, ethical thinking, communication, and collaboration. As a BUS 102 team member, you will be a part of a faculty team who work together to integrate these key skills across all four FYIC classes (BUS 101: Foundations of Business; BUS 102: Foundations of Business Communication; ESP 103: Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurial Thinking; and BUS 104: Introduction to Computational Thinking for Business). Job Description: Service responsibilities undertaken by faculty in the FYIC and their home department could include developing and facilitating programmatic integration and enhanced programmatic efficacy; developing and maintaining teaching materials and resources shared by the FYIC and department; and/or providing support for one or more of the following: Visiting faculty teaching in the FYIC or Department, assessment of FYIC and other courses, e-learning, and career opportunities for students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Doctorate for rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in a related field by the time of appointment; Master's degree for rank of Assistant Lecturer in a related field by the time of appointment. Candidates must have expertise in teaching in rhetoric and writing, communication, business, or related fields.
Consideration may be given to candidates with multiple years of experience engaging with clients from a variety of industries, organizations, and/or disciplines; experience teaching professional skills (e.g. teamwork, project management, technical writing, reproducibility, coding, verbal and written communication) to students and/or colleagues; commitment to pedagogic innovation; demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking student-centered service responsibilities such as academic and extracurricular advising; demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness assessment of FYIC and other courses, e-learning, and career opportunities for students; and / or demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking programmatic or departmental service responsibilities.
