Our client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to join the team in New York City.

Our client is growing commercial general contractor based in Manhattan with diverse project work throughout the five Burroughs

Description

  • Assist the Superintendent in overseeing on-site operations for commercial interior construction projects.

  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and vendors to ensure timely execution of work.

  • Monitor project schedule and report any delays or issues to the Superintendent and Project Manager.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company safety standards; perform daily safety walkthroughs.

  • Support in conducting daily site meetings and progress updates.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date field documentation including daily logs, photos, and inspection reports.

  • Conduct site walkthroughs to ensure quality control and adherence to design specifications.

  • Help manage material deliveries and logistics in coordination with the field team and vendors.

  • Interface with building management and ensure adherence to site access rules and local DOB regulations.

  • Provide on-site troubleshooting and support to resolve construction-related issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Assist in punch list development and project close-out activities.

Profile

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role within the commercial interiors or general contracting industry in NYC.

  • Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials, particularly in tenant improvement and high-end interiors.

  • Strong understanding of NYC building codes, DOB requirements, and union labor coordination.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

  • OSHA 30 certification required.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a dynamic jobsite environment.

  • Tech-savvy; familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam) is a plus.
