PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The Assistant Store Manager Retail Floor is a vital key leader within the store and may serve as the acting Store Manager when the Store Manager is not present. They provide oversight for the full range of operational activities, resulting in positive experiences for both employees and customers as well as retail profitability - all in a manner consistent with our Mission and Values. The Assistant Store Manager Retail Floor sets expectations for the proper execution of policies and procedures and responds as appropriate to employee performance. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Operational Oversight-
  • Promotes CommunityAid's sales and marketing strategies, including sales floor layout, merchandising, procurement stocking, product quality and rag out.
  • Conducts daily floor walks, sharing insights with Store Management to ensure alignment.
  • Designs and implements seasonal store layout changes with the support of the Retail Floor Supervisor.
  • Ensures the sales floor presentation, including recovery and signage, adheres to standards.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of the dressing rooms, including recovery of items to the sales floor.
  • Oversees the timely delivery of product to the sales floor, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Communicates retail supply needs and provides feedback on the quality of product sent to the sales floor.
  • Takes responsibility for the overall function of the store when the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager Production Clothing, and the Assistant Store Manager Front End & Production Other are not present.
  • Customer Service-
  • Oversees interactions on the sales floor to ensure and promote a consistent positive shopping experience and to deter theft.
  • Handles customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Cash Handling-
  • Comprehends and adheres to cash handling and management procedures.
  • Supervises cash handling procedures, including counting cash drawers, reconciling transactions, making deposits, and conducting bank runs when serving as the Manager on Duty, while ensuring the security of the safe.
  • Staffing, Employee Training and Development-
  • Oversees staff for the Retail Floor (Retail Floor Supervisor, Retail Floor Trainer, and Retail Associates).
  • Conducts weekly or as needed one-on-one meetings with the Retail Floor Supervisor, Retail Floor Trainer, and Associates.
  • Evaluates potential candidates for cultural alignment and position fit through phone interviews and on-site interviews.
  • Manages the selection and integration of new staff by adhering to company procedures.
  • Oversees Associate training:
  • Supports the Retail Floor Trainer in training new Associates on their roles, responsibilities, company policies, procedures and best practices, including cross-training in other departments as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Manager to ensure proper staffing levels, in adherence with the labor model.
  • Communicates performance expectations, coaching for improvement and success and utilizes existing performance management tools to document conversations.
  • Assists the Store Manager in the annual review process by sharing input on the employees' performance.
  • Employee Engagement and Morale-
  • Promotes employee engagement through regular huddles and team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, special events, and prioritizing employee recognition.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Activities-
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, as well as CommunityAid policies and procedures, and ensures these are clearly communicated and followed by Retail Floor staff.
  • Facilities and Logistics Safety -
  • Maintains a safe environment for both employees and customers.
  • Ensures cleanliness and organization on the sales floor.
  • Regularly monitors for safety, promptly addressing and taking measures to correct unsafe work conditions.
  • Additional Duties or Responsibilities -
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.
  • Provides support to other departments as needed or directed by the Store Manager.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree related to business management preferred
  • Minimum of one-year experience in a supervisory role within a comparable retail or service-oriented business preferred
  • Experience effectively managing in a fast-paced, professional work environment
  • The ability to properly handle and maintain confidential information
  • Flexibility with scheduling and availability to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S without sponsorship
  • Adherence to consistent attendance and weekly hours expectations based on full-time/part-time/seasonal non-exempt(hourly) status
