The Role

Due to rapid growth and continuous success we are delighted to confirm that we are currently seeking an Assistant Site Manager to join our Fortem team at our Birmingham branch. This is a permanent role and the core working hours are Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm. This will be working within our Retrofit division assisting with the external construction projects (EWI/external Wall Insulation, Roofing and Cladding refurbishment).

The Project

You will be part of one of Fortem's largest Social Housing contracts, Birmingham City Council. This is an expanding 50m Repairs & Maintenance, Capital Works and Retrofit contract and the largest social housing contract in Europe. We are responsible for over 22,500 properties in the Birmingham area including low, medium and a significant number of high-rise blocks. This is a fast paced, focused and dedicated contract which we have been re-awarded 3 times and we are very proud to be able to support this exceptional client.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Assistant Site Manager responsibilities include: To ensure all works carried out comply with BS7671 and any other relevant standards. To ensure that works instructions issued to trades or subcontractors are clear, unambiguous and represent a full and fair days' workload, at all times seeking to maximise productivity. To lead a team of supply chain partners to solve problems associated with carrying out their works. Carry out Ad Hoc safety inspections on supply chain partners Carry out WIPs on directly employed tradespeople Carry out Quality Inspections on all works Ensure PAT testing of office equipment and plant is current Organise work activity and prioritisation for the team Complete an accident form in the presence of an injury Managing the Welfare facilities on site Dealing with tenants on a daily basis and achieving excellent customer satisfaction

Personal Qualities

Essential Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Problem solving skills, analytical capability Ability to work well under pressure IT skills, MS Office, ECDL, MS Project Scaffold Inspection, PASMA Trained, Ability to engage people and build strong working relations with trades, colleagues, client and managers Worked in a planned works environment/site CSCS Card, SSS.
