Job Summary:

Stanislaus Food Products is a nationally recognized, family-owned company known for crafting the finest Italian-style tomatoes and sauces for top-quality Italian restaurants and pizzerias. We currently have an opening in our Quality Control Department for an Assistant Quality Control Manager.

This position will partner with the Quality Control Manager to oversee the daily functions of the QC Department. This role involves overseeing the quality control processes, managing a team of QC technicians and collaborating with various departments to maintain product quality throughout production. This position must be available to work night shift during Tomato Harvest Season (typically mid-July through early October).

Essential functions and responsibilities include:
  • Manage and lead the QC night shift department during the seasonal tomato harvest in accordance with Regulatory requirements and SFP policies/procedures/goals. (approx. 70).
  • Examine processes first-hand; interact with supervisors and operators as part of process monitoring and root-cause analysis.
  • Assist and lead hourly QC Supervisors/ Lab technicians in review and analysis of quality and/or food safety so proper action/corrective actions can be taken.
  • Oversee various plan processes to ensure quality, food safety policies, and specifications are being monitored and followed.
  • Develop and maintain systems to assure compliance to all SQF requirements including commitment, document control and records, specifications, attaining food safety, verification, product identification trace and recall, incident management, building equipment design and construction, and food safety fundaments and the pre-requisite programs.
  • Train and maintain all training records for critical food safety and quality requirements. Document and maintain training registry for all employee at the manufacturing site(s).
  • Oversee, monitor, verify, and validate activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet SFP Food Safety and Quality standards.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in situations where deviations have occurred, or a potential risk has been identified related to food safety and/or quality attributes.
  • Establish quality system compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved.
  • Develop and implement a variety of procedures and management systems to ensure compliance with pertinent food regulations (cGMP, SQF, HACCP, Non-GMO, Plant Inspections, warehouse inspections) and product specifications.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, or university, preferably in food science or biological sciences.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Requisite 3-4 years of work experience in food processing environment with food safety/quality programs focus.
  • Learn and ensure compliance with Food Safety systems through monitoring of process and documentation.
  • Monitor processes and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work on quality improvement projects and studies in the direction of Quality Control Management.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to make decisions following hierarchical chain of command regarding product dispositions.
  • Ability to render sound judgment regarding food safety risks and/or product quality defects.
  • Required previous supervisory experience.
  • Must be available to work long hours, night shift during tomato harvest season Mid-July through early October (approx. 11 weeks) including the weekends. October through December this position is qualified to workday shift (4 days a week with the Reward Time Program) and January through early July this position works day shift (5 days a week) preparing for the next harvest season.
Physical Requirements:
  • Rare lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; rare stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 25% or less, as 75% or more of the time the employee will be in their assigned workspace area. The job is performed under moderate temperature variations and in an office environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 35 lbs. is required.
