Summary
The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in the construction team, acting as a primary point of contact and liaison among owners, field personnel, subcontractors, internal support teams, and project leadership. This position is involved in all phases of the construction process, with a focus on overseeing project management, safety, quality, scheduling, and cost control. The role requires collaboration with subcontractors, engineers, and architects to address challenges that arise during construction.

Position Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Project Management team, Project Managers, and Project Executives.
  • Supports and oversees bid package procurement.
  • Solicits bids for job site supplies and owner FF&E items.
  • Serves as a direct liaison between clients, field personnel, subcontractors, and senior management.
  • Participates in and facilitates construction meetings with owners, designers, and contractors; documents meeting minutes and distributes them accordingly.
  • Manages the submittal and RFI process, ensuring alignment with design intent and project timelines.
  • Prepares daily reports and verifies subcontractor hours, tasks, and equipment usage.
  • Assists with and oversees dispute resolution, including review of change orders.
  • Collects and organizes daily/weekly reports and site photos.
  • Conducts site inspections, reporting any issues or deficiencies to the Project Manager, including quality control and implementation of safety protocols.
  • Oversees construction teams and assists in resolving labor and union-related concerns.
  • Directly manages project schedules, including developing timelines for construction and support activities, updating schedules in P6 (or other systems), and coordinating with subcontractors to ensure adherence to project timelines.
  • Assists Project Managers and Project Executives with budget management.
  • Provides leadership and support to superintendents, subcontractors, and external partners.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with all stakeholders, including superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and field teams.
  • Leads and participates in project financial review meetings.
  • Documents, tracks, and oversees the punch list process during and at project completion.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Four to eight years of experience managing commercial, public sector, or industrial construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction and design drawings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel, Microsoft Project, Procore, GIS mapping, and CAD.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training.
