Description

The Assistant Project Manager is an integral member of the project team responsible for providing administrative support to Kent Power's Project Managers throughout the project life cycle. This person will be supporting a variety of day-to-day tasks for projects across the state of Ohio.
  • Ensure rental equipment requests are processed in a timely manner.
  • Run various reports and review job cost tracking spreadsheets weekly.
  • Update and review various reports and submittals as they relate to projects costs.
  • Help with different aspects of a project ranging from the bid process to project wrap up.
  • Ensure resources are available to ensure projects run smoothly.
  • Complete project start-up packets as assigned by Project Manager. Provide completed packet along with printed drawings to General Foreman.
  • Submit Purchase Order Requisitions to Purchasing department during project start-up phase and as needed throughout the project life cycle.
  • Begin the PM process including but not limited to, reviewing, and understanding drawings, specifications, customer requirements and identifying stakeholders.
  • Track contracts and change orders for sales closed reporting.
  • Assist Project Manager with field-team-member tasks including authenticating timecards as needed and providing monthly crew reports to safety department, tracking units on projects and executing "call before you dig" requests.
  • Support certain aspects of WIP processing and various other tasks including filing of project documents within the appropriate database and attending project related meetings, as necessary.
  • Openly communicates with Project Managers, alerting them of situations that require attention as well as maintains open lines of communication with the project team.
  • Work with customer reps to manage landowner issues, government agencies, railroads, safety reps, other utilities, transportation departments, environmental agencies, "call before you dig" requests, permits, etc.
  • Act as a champion for all Kent Power initiatives, processes, and programs.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Associate's degree specializing in business administration, business management or another relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a project coordinator and/or other relevant certifications and experience.
  • Associate Project Management certification and experience in accounting software is a plus.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient in using technology, such as a computer or tablet.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite of products, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and execute tasks on competing projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various parties.
  • Ability to identify issues and utilize effective problem-solving skills to design solutions.
  • Effective time management skills, optimizing productivity, and meeting project deadlines.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyze complex problems, break them down into manageable components and formulate effective solutions.
  • Ability to remain agile in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
