Summary of position:
The Assistant Program Administrator coordinates the effective implementation of the Early Childhood Education and supports professional development of instructional staff to enhance students' kindergarten readiness skills.

Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):
  • Formulate, coordinate, and implement the Education and Child Development services of the program as prescribed in the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Provide direct supervision to Education Supervisors and Educational Coaches.
  • Support Education Supervisors with:
    • Visiting classrooms to observe and determine strengths and weaknesses in teaching techniques and curriculum planning.
    • Clarifying for staff the understanding of their job responsibilities.
    • Giving direction to center staff individually and collectively.
    • Directing curriculum planning and implementation, creating a unified approach to the education component.
    • Evaluating Teachers and Paraeducators as needed.
    • Supporting any health and safety concerns within the classroom or buildings

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, with experience teaching preschool-age children required. Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, Pennsylvania Teaching Certification/Early Childhood, and Pennsylvania Supervisory Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience, five (5) years preferred, in an early childhood classroom with a strong knowledge of pedagogy and developmentally appropriate practices for preschool-age students.
  • Demonstrated capacity to offer assistance and support supervisors and teachers in the implementation and adaptation of curricula to the group and individual needs of children in a Head Start classroom.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania Early Learning Standard and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.

Schedule:
Full-time, 12 months/year

Salary:
Per Head Start Salary Scale. Rates starting at $71,825.90/year
