The School of Pharmacy at Chapman University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Non-Tenure Track (Inpatient/Acute Care/Critical Care/Emergency Medicine/General medicine), beginning January 2, 2025.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice within Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) seeks applicants for a 12-month cycle, multi-year, non-tenure track faculty position. Located on the Chapman University Rinker Health Sciences Campus in Irvine, California, CUSP engages students in science-based, personalized, inter-professional education and training. The Health Sciences Campus is strategically located near top academic medical centers, community pharmacies and clinics. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Chapman University's School of Pharmacy program has been authorized by the ACPE Board of Directors for Full Accreditation.

Responsibilities

This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and would be expected to engage in teaching, service, scholarship activities, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the University as well as with the Department Chair and Dean. Additionally, the incumbent will provide mentorship to students and contribute to the visibility, impact, and reputation of the University and its programs through research and scholarly engagement. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching classroom, experiential, and laboratory courses to Doctor of Pharmacy Students. Subject matters may include clinical skills in pharmacy practice including but not limited to patient physical assessment and medication management.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Develop, coordinate, and deliver didactic and experiential education in the Doctor of Pharmacy Program as assigned by the Department Chair. Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
  2. Use the University's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials.
  3. Serve as a Student Advisor consisting of advising and assisting students through in-person office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other university-approved mechanisms. Communicate professionally and effectively with students.
  4. Attend and participate in monthly School and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events, and serve as a member of University, School, and/or Department committees as assigned by the Department Chair.
  5. Engage in clinical, practice based, or other scholarly activities in support of the school's research and innovation mission.
  6. Actively participate in professional organizations and community outreach to promote CUSP.
  7. Enhance or develop a practice site as a faculty-in-residence pharmacist at a designated practice site. Collaborate with the onsite clinical service patient care team to provide care to patients. Collaborate with the administrative and clinical teams on projects and committee work as specified by the practice site.
  8. Provide experiential education to pharmacy students and pharmacy residents (if applicable) at the practice site.
  9. Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise (Board Certification is highly encouraged).
  10. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Chair.

Qualifications:

Required

  1. A Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
  2. Residency and/or fellowship or equivalent experience in inpatient/acute care (e.g. emergency medicine, critical care, general medicine, etc.).
  3. Eligibility to practice pharmacy in California with licensure in good standing.
  4. Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success.
  5. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  6. Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals).
  7. Record of scholarly activities commensurate with an academic appointment.
  8. Evidence of teaching excellence.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, contributing to an inclusive working, and learning environment.

The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience. This position is contingent on final budget approval.
