JOB SUMMARY:

Kentucky State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on interdisciplinary applications in Business, Engineering, Technology, Arts, and Sciences. The successful candidate will engage in innovative teaching, research, and community outreach to address and integrate AI across diverse fields, fostering innovation and academic excellence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct interdisciplinary research in AI applications for business, engineering, technology, arts, and sciences, including predictive analytics, personalized medicine, and systems optimization.
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in AI applications for Business, Engineering, Technology, Arts, and Sciences through active learning experiences and project-based pedagogy.
  • Supervise student research projects and serve on graduate committees.
  • Advance research that integrates AI with innovative problem-solving in diverse fields such as economics, creative arts, systems design, and social sciences.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations with faculty across multiple colleges.
  • Seek external funding for research and programmatic initiatives.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, fostering research and career development.
  • Publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and contribute to scholarly discourse.
  • Participate in curriculum development and innovative teaching practices.
  • Engage in service to the university and community, supporting initiatives that advance institutional goals.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong expertise in AI, machine learning, and data analytics with applications in business, engineering, and social sciences.
  • Proficiency in health informatics tools and programming languages such as Python, R, Java, C , machine learning frameworks/libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, deep learning frameworks and PyTorch
  • Excellent teaching, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and with community stakeholders.
  • Experience in securing research funding and managing interdisciplinary projects.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

    This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

    OTHER DUTIES:

    This position will conduct other related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated research record in AI applications to computer science, cybersecurity, humanities, business, or data science.
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • General Office Environment: Primarily seated work with occasional periods of standing and walking.
  • Technology Use: Frequent use of computers.
  • Travel: Occasional travel for conferences, fieldwork, and outreach activities.
