Position summary:

The Assistant Professor and Assistant Football Coach is responsible to assist with the day-to-day operations of the football program. Kilgore College has a rich tradition and history in NJCAA athletics. The intercollegiate football program is a member of the Region XIV Athletic Conference. The athletic, health education, physical education, and recreation facilities at Kilgore College consist of three gymnasiums, football field with stands, softball field, two racquetball courts, spin studio, virtual aerobic room, dance studio, classrooms, flexible aerobics floor, exercise equipment area, free weight area, nautilus area, indoor tracks, gymnastics room, and laundry facilities. These facilities are utilized by the athletic programs consisting of football and women's and men's basketball, softball, and athletic training; health and kinesiology instruction programs; and the fitness program for students, employees and their immediate families, and patrons.

Position responsibilities:
  • Teach six courses during the academic year
  • Develop course syllabi, create exams/quizzes, homework assignments, and grading
  • Be able to work in and provide courses on Blackboard
  • Attend department and division meetings
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the football program
  • Assist with the recruiting program, interaction with the local public schools, and assisting with a marketing program.
  • Attend and/or participate in professional football clinics and other athletic development seminars
  • Assist with the organization and supervise off season strength training programs and off season play.
  • Help implement rules for student-athletes and inform them about acceptable standards of conduct.
  • Assist with monitoring budget and turning in paperwork on time to ensure the football program is fiscally responsible.
  • Assist with the coordination of all study hall and monitor academic progress as it relates to NJCAA eligibility standards.
  • Contribute to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, Director of Athletics, or Department Chair.
Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of a master's degree to include 18 graduate hours in kinesiology from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum of two years of successful full-time football coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Teaching experience, preferably. Teaching fields other than kinesiology will be considered.
  • Must be able to effectively motivate, teach, and supervise students and student-athletes. In addition, the ability to maintain a professional relationship with students and peers is essential.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Activity is required in weights, practices, office procedures, laundry and residential life.
  • Maintenance of football field equipment is required.
  • Movement of heavy objects and participating in practices is done daily.
  • Some work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

  • Compensation for this 12-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $ 58,766.67 for a master's degree to $68,169.33 for a doctorate with stipend for coaching duties . Overload and summer classes are paid separately.
Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment.
