Position Summary:
The School of Nursing invites applications for a nine month faculty position in the ACEN accredited Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program on the ASU-Midsouth and/or the Jonesboro campus. Participation in teaching, student mentoring, professional service is expected. The position is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of assistant professor.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in the development and evaluation of curriculum, course content, clinical experiences, and test construction.
- Responsible for clinical and didactic courses appropriate to areas of expertise.
- Plans and supervises clinical seminars.
- Establishes effective coordinating relationships with co-workers and clinical agencies.
- Continues education for professional growth.
- Participates in student academic advising and guidance.
- Maintains office hours
- Participates in the faculty organization and appropriate program, college, and university activities
- Serves on assigned program, college, and university committees.
- Sponsors and promotes planned activities of students, programs, the college, and the university as requested.
- Contributes to the community through involvement in and/or consultation with health-related organizations, board memberships, or professional presentations to the public
- Participates in planning for the continued growth and progress of the program through faculty and student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Holds membership and participates in organizations that advance the profession of nursing, such as ANA, ARNA, Sigma, or other professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of curriculum design, strategies to promote student learning, assessment and evaluation of learning, evidence-based education principles, basic nursing skills and a commitment to life-long learning. Possess interpersonal and communication skills necessary to teach as part of a faculty team.
General Days/Hours:
Typically, Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, except clinical practicum days
Regular and reliable attendance on campus
Clinical practicum may include Saturday and/or Sunday
Other:
Requires teaching clinical practicum courses.
Position may be assigned to the ASU Mid-South (West Memphis) or A-State Jonesboro, depending on greatest need.
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Master of Science in Nursing degree
2) Licensure to practice nursing as an RN in Arkansas or compact state.
3) At least two (2) years clinical practice as a RN.
4) Didactic teaching experience preferred.
