Assist the principal in the coordination and administration of pupil and personnel servicesAssist the principal to implement and maintain a code of acceptable student behaviorParticipate in the recruitment, placement, observation, evaluation, and training of staffParticipate in special education meetingsManage the arrival and departure of school bus transportationMay establish and manage building maintenance schedulesSupervise the use of buildings and groundsSecure daily substitutes for teachers and instructional aidesAttend school improvement meetingsComplete required reportsAttend and participate in team leader meetingsCoordinate school field tripsRespond to school alarm calls, monitor school bus radioParticipate in PTA events and meet with parents and community groupsCoordinate and present awards and other student recognition programsMaintain inventory, manage and prepare records for destruction, and coordinate yearly auditManage, distribute, stamp, number, and take inventory of textbooksInvestigate and conference with individuals regarding classroom discipline issuesInvestigate and conference with individuals regarding school issuesRead, analyze, and respond to various correspondencesSupervise students at arrival, dismissal, and cafeteria timesCoordinate Crisis Management TeamCoordinate, prepare, plan, schedule standardized testing, and analyze test resultsPerform related work as required Qualifications: KSA's, EducationKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESSignificant knowledge with federal and state laws governing the education of all students and students with disabilities. Exceptional verbal, written, and technical communication skills. Familiarity and proficiency using and managing Microsoft office products (ie, word, excel, outlook, email, database, etc.). Exceptional organizational skills and time management skills. Excellent diplomacy skills in managing difficult people and difficult situations. Significant analytical and interpretive skills with regard to educational law governing student with disabilities. Excellent knowledge of the processes related to effective teaching and learning. Strong supervisory and decision-making skills. Ability to manage crises situations effectively.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequires Master's degree and eligibility for VDOE endorsement in Adm & Supervision; at least three years of Full time experience as an elementary teacher and evidence of leadership experiences (administrator or supervisor preferred); Postgraduate Professional comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
Terms of Employment LOCATION: Assigned SchoolWORK SCHEDULE: 12 months; 261 Days; 8 Hours/DayPAYGRADE: 19SALARY SCALE: UniformFLSA STATUS: Exempt Physical requirements and Disclaimer PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Requires physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Position may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Work is typically performed in a school setting, including classrooms, cafeteria, and recreational areas. May require long periods of walking, sitting or standing. Requires exposure to outdoor environment, which may include inclement weather, to coordinate school bus scheduling and facility management. Daily liaison activity throughout the school building and grounds. Daily contact with students, teachers, school and county administration, parents, and the community is required. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Consistent and regular attendance is essential in this position.
