Job Title: Assistant to the Plant Manager
Location: Rincon, GA
Reports to: Plant Manager
Job Summary:
The Assistant to the Plant Manager will provide high-level support to the Plant Manager in coordinating and executing daily plant operations. This role will assist in managing safety, quality, production performance, and administrative tasks to help ensure the plant runs efficiently. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who excels in communication, planning, and operational support within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily plant operations, helping to ensure production targets and safety standards are met.
- Serve as a liaison between the Plant Manager and various plant teams including production, maintenance, and quality assurance.
- Assist with production planning, KPI tracking, and root cause analysis to help drive continuous improvement.
- Help coordinate responses to production issues, equipment failures, and quality deviations.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations related to plant performance, safety, and operational metrics.
- Participate in audits, safety inspections, and compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to OSHA and company policies.
- Collaborate with department heads to schedule and document meetings, reviews, and training sessions.
- Assist in workforce scheduling and communication efforts, supporting employee engagement and development initiatives.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure materials are available for production needs.
- Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and cost-saving projects as directed by the Plant Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior leadership or operations support experience a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and proactive demeanor.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- Experience in transformer or electrical manufacturing is a plus.
Work Environment:
This role includes time spent on the plant floor and in an office setting. It may require flexibility with shifts or extended hours based on plant needs.
