The Assistant Payroll Manager works closely with the Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across a portfolio of properties. Key responsibilities include verifying daily time and attendance records, auditing new hire data and employee updates, ensuring timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with multi-state employment laws, and supporting various payroll-related projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Compile and review daily time and attendance reports; verify and edit timecards, tip reports, and related spreadsheets for accuracy and balance.
- Process vacation and paid sick leave requests, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with policy.
- Assist with daily labor reports and support the preparation of monthly internal audits and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate calculation of compensation, including overtime and payroll deductions.
- Prepare and distribute manual paychecks when necessary, ensuring timely and accurate compensation.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly and professionally.
- Adhere to company standards, values, and conduct expectations in all responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties or projects as assigned by payroll and finance leadership.
Must-Have Skills
- Experience in payroll processing, with proficiency in administrative software such as ADP HR
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting effectively with vendors and team members.
- Proven ability to follow instructions, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to read and comprehend English and perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
