Assistant Nurse Manager - Cardiovascular Stepdown

Full Time - 8, 9 or 10 hour shifts

Day/Midnight rotation depending on the needs of the department

Assistant Nurse Manager for our Cardiovascular Stepdown unit. The 4E CV Stepdown Unit is located at the Newark campus and is a 38-bed unit with a patient types of cardiac cath, angioplasty, cardiac dysrhythmia, myocardial infarction, and vascular surgical patients including femoral-popliteal bypass, abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid enterectomy, and carotid stents. In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager will assist in the clinical and administrative activities of the department in order to ensure patients the provision of quality care.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all nursing and technical personnel: Assesses competency of staff, oversees daily staffing and scheduling needs of department, evaluate staff performance, counsel/coach staff member as needed.
  • Participates in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
  • Functions as role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors.
  • Directs, mentors and supports all levels of staff.
  • Develops, implements and monitors performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Identifies and develops strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.
  • Analyzes administrative and operational functions; implements appropriate changes and system wide improvements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.
  • Five years appropriate acute care, clinical experience required.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Appropriate clinical certification required.
  • BLS Certification required
