Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Experience Preferred: At least five years of clinical experience, one year of charge nurse experience, and one year experience in the area of specialization. Clinical Performance: Provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way using a relationship based care approach. The needs of patients and families throughout the continuum are identified and met and includes opportunities for patient and family education. Formulates or follows a goal directed plan of care and implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner. Evaluates the effectiveness of self and care given by all health care team members in progressing patients toward goal. Patient Safety: Situations are analyzed for potential safety concerns and appropriate action is taken to reduce or eliminate risks for potential harm. Exercises good judgment and knows when to seek outside advice when solving problems to prevent unfavorable patient outcomes. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, code of conduct, safety protocols, and infection prevention standards, and follows them accordingly. Education: Maintains current knowledge of nursing information both in general and specific to the department. Attends all classes and workshops when required, and seeks out opportunities to learn and grow. Documentation: Effectively utilizes appropriate programs in order to properly document patient care activities. Accurately inputs all patient information into said programs in a timely manner. Medication: Possesses up-to-date knowledge of medication, their benefits and their side effects. Precisely distributes medication to the appropriate patient by verifying patient identification as directed by the physician or designated representative - to include Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. Stays vigilant for any inconsistencies and reports them accordingly. Staff member understands that completion of all tasks and educational requirements listed in the Comprehensive Stroke Certification policies are required (HRCOMP & HRCOMP).
