Job Summary

The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach/General Manager will support the basketball coaching staff in their recruitment, counseling, conditioning, training and coaching of the basketball team including monitoring academic progress, retention, promoting, grant-in-aid recommendations, scheduling, and etc. Must adhere to all safety standards, ensure the well-being of student-athletes and support their academic success.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist the basketball program to include coaching, recruiting, counseling, monitoring academic progress, retention, promoting, grant-in-aid recommendations, scheduling, i.e.

• Support the basketball coaching staff in their recruitment, counseling, conditioning, training, and operational procedures
• Assist in the on-campus recruitment of prospective student-athletes
• Maintain recruiting software and coordinate weekly mailings
• Coordinate all video (i.e., film exchange, film editing, scout tapes, etc.)
• Responsible for putting together the competition schedule
• Coordinate all community service functions for the assigned program
• Serve as the liaison with marketing/promotions, compliance, academic support, facility management, and game operations
• Coordinate summer camp operations
• Perform related departmental duties as required
• Adhere to any and all NCAA, SWAC and Grambling State University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field
• Two years minimum experience in sports recruiting, counseling, conditioning, training and coaching.

Preferred:

• Master's degree
• Experience in direction of all activities of the basketball program
