Departmental Objective:The Student Accounts and Cash Services Office is responsible for student accounting, cashiering and receivables and collections activities for the University. The office manages billing, collections, deposits and revenue accounts. Activities are performed with guidelines established by state and federal regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
Purpose of the Position:Assists in the management of cash services, accounts receivable, (billing and collections) and the student financial aid accounting such that all Federal, State and University policies are adhered to accurately and timely. Sets goals of each unit, recommends policy changes, and insures that all new mandates are addressed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:- Knowledge of and ability to interpret Generally Accepted Accounting principles.
- Knowledge and experience pertaining to State Policies and Federal Law and ability to interpret and implement.
- Knowledge and experience in Cash Services/Investment and Accounts Receivable Accounting.
- Knowledge and experience in personnel management as it pertains to staff hiring, training, and discipline.
- Knowledge and experience in approved collection policies and procedures.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :Education Required:
- High school diploma.
- College coursework in accounting or related field.
Experience Required:- Extensive experience working with cash transactions and cash handling procedures.
- Experience dealing with the public.
- Experience using personal computers, word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Experience using computerized cash receipting system.
Additional Consideration(s):Education Preferred:
- BS degree or equivalent experience that equates to a degree.
Experience Preferred:- Experience with complex computerized accounting system to include ability to analyze and interpret reports.
- Experience with personal computer-word processing and spreadsheet.
- 5 years' experience working in accounts receivable, collections environment at a Supervisory level.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to include public speaking.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise fiscal staff in complex accounting environment.
- Experience in Federal, State or Local Government or Higher Education.
- Ability to train and direct work of supporting staff.
- Strong demonstrated customer service skills to include conflict resolution.
Salary Information:Starting at $62,102 Commensurate with Education & Experience
