Job Description

Pittsburg State University School of Construction has an opening for a full-time non-tenure earning faculty position to support our 500+ major Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, Safety Management and Interior Design programs. Position may be renewable for additional years.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Commit to a team-oriented environment within progressive Construction Management and Construction Engineering Technology programs.
  • Focus on teaching (12 hours per semester), student recruitment, advising, mentoring, and industry engagement.
  • Teach courses in construction methods (e.g., concrete, plumbing, steel, HVAC, electrical, framing), construction management, estimating, graphics, or other relevant courses within the School of Construction.
  • Develop and deliver current and innovative courses in Construction Management and Construction Engineering Technology.
  • Maintain computer competency for the effective use of educational technology and resources in course delivery and management.
  • Conduct research to identify potential grant sources, develop and write grant proposals, and collaborate with faculty and staff to secure funding for research projects and educational initiatives.

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire
  • Undergraduate degree (BS/BA) in construction, engineering, engineering technology, management, science, safety or a closely related technical area.
  • 5-years U.S. construction/safety or closely related technical experience required.
  • Master's degree in construction management, civil or structural engineering, engineering technology or related field.

Preferred Education and Experience -
  • Record of professional society (AGC, NAHB, AIC, ASCE, ASEE, ASSE, etc.) engagement.
  • Professional registration/certifications (contractor's license, CPC, LEED, PE, LS, OSHA, NCCER or others).
  • University, college or community college teaching experience
  • 5-years U.S. construction/safety or closely related technical experience in a managerial/supervisory position.
