Platte Valley High School-Assistant Girls Basketball Coach Preferred Qualifications:
1. Multiple years of experience as a high school player, collegiate player or as a coach.
2. Knowledge of basketball skills, rules, and applicable drills.
Reports to and evaluated by: Head Girls Basketball Coach
Supervises: N/A
Job Goal: To assist in promoting a high school basketball program in which the student can excel to her full potential while competing in an atmosphere that adds to her total education including her physical well- being, moral character and social and mental development.
Essential Duties & Performance Responsibilities:
- To follow the instruction and directions of the head coach.
- They shall carry out such duties as scouting, timing, scoring, working at games, etc. as directed by the head coach and athletic director.
- The head coaches shall set up practice schedules and it will be the duty of the assistant coaches to follow the schedule as to time and content.
- Instructs and demonstrates basketball rules and techniques.
- General supervision (Practices, matches and community events)
- All assistant coaches will attend meetings called by the athletic director or head coach.
- It shall be the duty of all assistant coaches to help with the issuing of equipment as well as the checking in of equipment. Assistant coaches are also responsible for helping the head coaches with inventories.
- Maintains professional growth through attendance of coaching clinics, and conferences.
- Assists in the tracking and inputting of statistical data into Maxpreps.
- Follows the Patriot League and CHSAA Bylaws
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the head coach, AP/AD, principal, Superintendent and/or the board may assign.
Terms of Employment: For duration of approved athletic season.
Evaluation: Performance of the position will be evaluated in accordance with the board's policy on
evaluation of coaching personnel.
