SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director and Principal, coaches are responsible for planning, organizing, and leading practices that align with their sport. They analyze the strengths and weaknesses of both individual athletes and opposing teams to develop effective strategies and select team members for competitions.
Coaches play a vital role in motivating and mentoring athletes, fostering sportsmanship, and instilling a respect for the game. They ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to participate and benefit from the school's athletic programs. Coaches serve as role models, leaders, and educators, helping student-athletes grow both on and off the field while promoting a positive and competitive athletic experience.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to the Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Planning and leading structured practice sessions
- Creating and implementing strategies to maximize team performance in competitions
- Providing real-time feedback and coaching during games
- Maintaining accurate player and team records
- Recruiting new athletes to strengthen the team
- Mentoring players to develop discipline, teamwork, and respect for the sport
- Encouraging and motivating athletes to continuously improve their skills
- Maintaining equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and functional playing environment
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous experience playing or coaching the sport is preferred
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS - Coaching permit for designated sport through Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board, or the ability to obtain one
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
