As they expand operations, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join their dynamic team.


Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Assistant General Counsel to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Associate General Counsel and provide comprehensive legal support to our organization and our clients, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, managing risks, and contributing to the achievement of our business objectives. While experience in insurance and/or corporate law is preferred, we prioritize intelligence, adaptability, and a strong work ethic above all else.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key support to the Associate General Counsel, acting as their right hand in overseeing legal matters, and supporting the client licensing and compliance team.
  • Onboard and/or coordinate the onboarding of new clients.
  • Conduct client-needs discovery meetings, provide license portfolio reviews, and generate quotes for services and products.
  • Respond to client inquiries and concerns and manage client requests.
  • Communicate with state regulators, carriers, and vendors to research and resolve licensing and compliance issues.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of matters, including contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements and contracts, including but not limited to, vendor agreements, employment contracts, and partnership agreements.
  • Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address legal issues, offering practical solutions and strategic guidance.
  • Assist in developing and implementing company policies and procedures to promote compliance and minimize legal exposure.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis, delivering clear and actionable recommendations to management.
  • Provide cross-functional legal support to departments such as HR, finance, and operations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on insurance and/or corporate law is preferred but not essential for the right candidate with strong transferable skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as thrive in a team-oriented setting.
