Title of Immediate Supervisor/Leader to Whom This Position Reports: Head Football Coach
Expected Daily Work Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Expected Weekly Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day.Overtime (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document.
Summary of this position: Assists the Head Football Coach in carrying out all assigned and auxiliary duties of the football program; specifically, preparation and daily development of assigned position group, Defensive Backs. This position will also have a variety of other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach including but not limited to, recruiting a specific geographical area, maintaining an appropriate number of players in the assigned position group, and working with specific special teams units.
Minimum Qualifications Required:(please be specific and respond to every question; indicate none if not applicable)
Education required to ensure success in this position: - A bachelor's degree (B.A.B.S) from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.
Experience required to ensure success in this position: - Three years of college coaching or five years of High School coaching is preferred.
Special skills, knowledge, and abilities: - Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of written, oral, and diagram instructions.
- Ability to read and analyze business documents, periodicals, operating manuals, and safety rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to write routine reports and other correspondence.
- Must be able to speak effectively in front of groups, managers, and employees.
- Able to perform basic mathematics.
License, certification, or registration necessary: - Must pass the NCAA DIII recruiting test to recruit. Must also be certified in First Aid and CPR/AED. A valid Tennessee Driver's license is required - or ability to obtain one with in a reasonable time from hire.
Physical requirements: - Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to perform actions such as handling tools and objects, kneeling, crouching, walking, and standing.
Environmental conditions: - The noise level is moderate.
Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment: Primary duties and responsibilities (Typically 7 primary duties comprised of 80% of the responsibilities): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Assist in the recruiting of all potential student-athletes.
- Comply with NCAA, SAA, and Athletic Department policies.
- Work with academic support staff in the monitoring of the academic progress of each student-athlete.
- Attend as required all practices, meetings, and contests.
- Assist in the organization and supervision of all off-campus trips, including being available for overnight travel.
- Coordinate all SAA and Non-Conference Video exchanges. Daily oversight of practice video.
- Maintain office hours as assigned by the Head Coach
- Auxiliary duties may be assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- Serve as a Game Manager for select home athletic events.
- Establish good rapport and generate respect among students, campus colleagues, and the local community by conducting oneself in an ethical manner.
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.
