SUMMARY/SCOPE:
Assistant FootballCoach/Defensive Assistant will be required toteach, supervise and correct all techniques, schemes and adjustments. Will alsobe a Special Teams Assistant (all phases).
Most important,will be a mentor and educator to help put our young men in a position to besuccessful on and off the field now and in the future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directsconditioning of players to achieve maximum athletic performance.
Assessesplayer's skills and assigns team positions.
AssistantFootball Coach will teach and coach all relevant aspects of football(techniques, schemes, etc.).
Identifyand recruit the right type of person for HSU and for Cowboy Football.
Recruiting:Recruit capable student athletes, develop professional relationships with highschool coaches and high school athletes, this includes in person visits,computer databases, phone calls, on campus visits, and other recruiting tacticsunder NCAA and Hardin Simmons University guidelines
AssistantFootball Coach will be responsible for coaching defensive position players,organizing and supervising practices, meetings, game planning, film breakdown,game day assignments, assist in coaching special teams as assigned by HeadCoach, and other football related duties.
Videoand Computer Skills: Must be able to operate basic skills of computers, must beable to master complex video breakdown and editing system, this will includefilm exchange, updates, breakdowns, film cuts, etc.
FootballOperations: Travel Coordinator, including transportation, meals, lodging, etc.
Adheresto the code of conduct for coaches and athletes.
Adheresto guidelines established by department.
Followsthe HSU Personnel and Safety Handbooks.
Performsother duties as assigned.

Thereare no supervisory responsibilities for this position, except for studentworkers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to writeroutine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groupsof customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply anddivide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units ofAmerican money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree fromfour-year college or university; Master's degree preferred.
Coaching:Football coaching experience at the high school and/or college level is preferred.
Recruiting:Prefer experience with evaluation, relationship building and full recruitmentof student athletes.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current CPR, AED, andFirst Aid certifications required (or must be obtained).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is an Exempt Level,Professional Position which often requires extended hours beyond a 40-hour workweek, especially during performance season.
A minimum of a40-hour work week is expected; times vary depending on practice schedules, gameschedules, etc.
Candidate must be able to worknon-traditional hours, including nights and weekends depending on the time ofyear.
Extensivetravel is required to travel to/from games during peak season.
Must have andmaintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving recordto be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able to drive anautomobile and 15-passenger van.
Must be able todrive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
