Job Summary The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Data and Reporting provides financial aid systems and data support for the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. This position will oversee the operational awarding and administration of nearly a half billion dollars of financial aid annually.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Manages, develops, and prepares documentation and reports on financial aid data and business processes.
- Determines financial aid data management needs for units and serves as technical expert regarding financial aid data within the student information system.
- Ensures the integrity of data loaded into the student information system via batch processes.
- Implements quality control monitoring
- Designs, develops, modifies, writes and documents communications and reports in support of student information system.
- Provides guidance to staff and clients on the appropriate protection and release of financial aid data.
- Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and IU policies and procedures related to financial aid data retrieval, confidentiality, and release of data.
- Monitors data requests, and other tools or programs used for data access.
- Provides educational assistance as needed to other departments regarding resources for historical financial aid and enrollment data.
- Produces and coordinates reports and dashboards of funds management used for Financial Aid and Scholarships leadership.
- Provides analysis and makes recommendations for improved reporting processes.
- Assists in the identification of financial aid and scholarship award processes that require improvement.
- Writes and implements computer-generated programs that yield business process reports and helps ensure accurate and efficient data processing for area.
- Provides limited technical support for staff as needed to ensure implementation of report and data processing.
- Serves as secondary liaison to Institutional Analytics personnel regarding financial aid data. Maintains institutional research methodology expertise.
- Helps organize and manages systems used for communications.
- Helps audit existing processes and tools and recommend improvements or additions to improve data reporting efficiency.
- Willingness to learn foundational financial aid knowledge and assist with functional tasks on an as needed basis.
General Responsibilities
- Provides experienced analysis of existing data and data structures and satisfies ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests.
- Creates reporting specifications for new reports/dashboards/analytical tools and performs testing/validation; ensures integrity, accessibility, and accuracy of reports/dashboards and data structures; reviews and approves user requests for access to reporting data and tools.
- Consults with faculty and/or staff to identify new business reporting needs and provides guidance and interpretation of complex environments and data.
- Documents data analysis efforts (data sources, reporting specifications, tools, issue/problem resolutions).
- Performs experienced analysis to interpret and determine validity and quality of data.
- Performs migration and conversion of data as needed in support of analysis efforts.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and tools and makes recommendations for implementation to improve data analysis services and approaches.

EDUCATION
Required - Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information science, or related field)

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
