Job Description Department: Office of Community Values Pay Rate Type: Salary Employee Type: Job Summary:The Assistant Director of Community Values and Student Access will serve a dual role, supporting two key support student areas within the Dean of the College division. This is a 12-month full-time position with the role equally divided between the two areas, allowing some variance on priorities dependent on the academic calendar and caseloads.

The Assistant Director of Community Values role supports the Director of Community Values, Conflict Resolution, and Restorative Practice. The incumbent will be responsible for managing Academic Integrity cases, which includes: managing the student conduct case management system (Maxient) and processes for alleged academic integrity violations; investigating and adjudicating alleged violations; maintaining confidential records; serving as a consultant to students, faculty and staff; and working with faculty to educate the campus community about the academic integrity. (The Academic Integrity policy and processes will be undergoing significant changes during the summer of 2025). The Assistant Director will also support the Community Values office's work by adjudicating low to mid-level violations of the Student Code of Conduct and supporting the development and implementation of educational programs and sanctions. Additionally, the Assistant Director will manage a caseload and facilitate processes for resolution of interpersonal and group conflicts, using restorative practices whenever possible.

The Assistant Director of Student Access role supports the Director of Student Access and Disabilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community members to support and promote equitable, inclusive, and accessible learning and living environments. The Assistant Director is responsible for facilitating student accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Fair Housing Act, and College policies and procedures. The Assistant Director engages individually and interactively with students to gather information, assess accessibility requests, determine reasonable accommodations, and provide assistance and referrals for the usage of assistive technology and other disability resources. The Assistant Director also supports students through individual coaching and case management. The position will oversee operational aspects of specific accommodations, including the distribution of adaptive technology and alternate format texts. Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

Assistant Director of Community Values
•   Coordinate Academic Integrity Cases, including Negligence and Dishonesty reports.
•   Coordinate the Academic Integrity Board, including training and scheduling of hearings.
•   Serve as a non-voting member of the Academic Review Board hearing cases of academic misconduct.
•   Adjudicate low to mid-level alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
•   Support the development and implementation of educational programs and sanctions; oversee submission review and follow-up.
•   Manage a caseload and facilitate processes for resolution of interpersonal and group conflicts.
•   Advise students on processes, including Academic Integrity and Administrative Resolution Appeals.
•   Lead office efforts to support students less directly affected by conflicts or (alleged) misconduct, such as roommates, teammates, and friends.
•   Maintain records of student conduct proceedings.
•   Assist the Director with the annual Student Handbook review. Support ongoing policy and process reviews.
•   Process queries regarding Disciplinary Record checks.
•   Co-manage the Administrator-on-Call system. With the Director, assist with training and debriefing/fellowship meetings. Serve as an Administrator-on-Call (2-4 weeks per year).
•   Collaborate with campus partners regarding the general welfare of students involved with the office.
•   Provide training for campus partners as requested.
•   Develop and deliver sanctioning programming (i.e. sessions on decision-making, alcohol education, etc.)
•   Assist in monitoring compliance with student conduct decisions.
•   Manage caseload using Maxient software. Assistant Director of Student Access
•   Provide direct services to students with disabilities by reviewing disability documentation, conducting intake interviews, determining appropriate and reasonable accommodations, and facilitating the implementation of accommodations.
•   Manage temporary accommodations needed in cases of student injury, including academic, housing, parking, and dining accommodations.
•   Assist the Director of Student Access and Disability Services with determining and managing housing accommodations.
•   Engage prospective students by providing comprehensive information about the institution, academic success programming, and the Office of Student Access and Disability Services through in-person and virtual meetings.
•   Assist with establishing and maintaining clear guidelines for students qualifying for assistance animals and service animals in accordance with state and federal laws.
•   Assist the Director with developing resources and guidance for faculty who work with students with disabilities.
•   Coordinate the delivery of services such as learning disabilities assessments, readers, note-takers, CART, and test proctors.
•   Guide students in resolving disability-related issues that may hinder academic success; refer students to appropriate campus and community resources.
•   Maintain case files and confidential student records in accordance with FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) and college policy.
•   Keep current on knowledge and expertise regarding relevant law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Maine Human Rights Act.
Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and experience:
•   Bachelor's degree required;
•   Experience directing, organizing and prioritizing workload to meet required deadlines and department objectives.
•   Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; medical, mental health, learning disabilities, their functional limitations, and appropriate accommodations; professional resources, including industry best practices.
•   Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to organize and present information effectively.
•   Demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving with strong decision-making and critical thinking capabilities.
•   Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty and administrators. Preferred Qualifications or Skills:
•   Master's Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Law or related field.
•   Experience in a post-secondary environment.
•   Professional student conduct-related experience at a college or university.
•   Experience in developing proactive and responsive educational programs.
•   Experience working with university or college residence life/housing programs.
•   Experience in addressing student development/student behavioral issues in the college or university setting.
•   Experience drafting and composing professional documents including correspondence, proposals, policies manuals, pamphlets, and brochures.
•   Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting; experience in assessing, implementing, and overseeing accommodation plans in an educational setting in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
•   Experience with adaptive software and assistive technology.
