Educational and Experience Requirement:Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's Degree preferred. Four years of experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work that compliments this position is desirable. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Performs highly advanced duties and assists the director with prioritized initiatives and objectives. Performs complex managerial work providing direction and guidance in operations and planning for the Academic Success Center.
Primary Responsibilities:Establishes internal support systems to manage academic support processes and procedures through academic coaching, events, and outreach. Provides leadership for staff, learning coaches, and others in the pursuit of providing exceptional coaching experiences in the Academic Success Center at SHSU. Enhances and supports the success of students experiencing academic roadblocks. Works with other ASC staff to develop and implement on-line and face-to-face learning coaching. Establishes relationships and partnerships with faculty and staff that foster collaboration and growth. Assists in the development and implementation of training for student-workers. Assists in the marketing, recruitment, and placement of learning coaches along with the development of coach schedules. Assists in developing and implementing procedures and guidelines that reflect the goals and objectives of the ASC. Responds to informational requests from students, faculty, staff, and campus partners. Collects, evaluates, and disaggregates outcome data for appropriate improvement. Prepares, maintains, and shares reports for focusing on continuous improvement. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates Academic Success Center (ASC) Programming which can include but are not limited to orientations to the center, class visits, workshops, seminars series, strategic partnerships with faculty and departments. Assesses student and campus needs for programming. Collaborates within the ASC and with departments across campus. Coordinates academic support program calendar for the ASC in partnership with ASC program staff selecting topics, securing presenters, reserving locations, troubleshooting concerns, assessing knowledge learned, attaining participation data. Creates programming schedules and works with center staff to coordinate facilitators. Serves as primary contact for faculty and departments interested in partnering on academic success initiatives and projects. Oversees the work of assigned program staff. Prepares and reviews reports on the effectiveness of program activities. Confers with staff on program issues and problems and implements solutions. Recommends and develops program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations. Interprets policies, rules, and regulations and ensures they are followed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Use independent judgement in making decisions under the authority of the Director. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
