PURPOSE: As Assistant Deli Manager, no one day is ever the same. You are someone who can display exceptional customer service skills, be knowledgeable of our deli meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, gourmet, and hot case items and prepare delicious foods that will keep our customers returning to the store. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide high-quality customer service, including complying with our Company's customer service standards, policies, and procedures.
- Assist Department Manager in training and supervising deli employees to ensure staffing patterns for the department.
- Assist Department Manager on their day off or as needed to plan daily production, performs inventory, and monitors information on store portal and in-store mailbox.
- Speak with customers to resolve problems with sales, dissatisfaction of service, or other problems related to the operation of the deli area.
- Perform daily inventory on Managers day off or as directed by Manager and order necessary supplies to maintain adequate inventory.
- Greet customers and take orders, in person and over the telephone, in a friendly manner.
- Create a positive and welcoming experience for customers.
- Prepare hot and cold deli food and display in deli cases for sale to customer.
- Inform customers about our deli products and services, provide food samples, and promote sales within the department.
- Operate slicers and other food preparation equipment.
- Prepare deli fruit or seasonal trays for display or special order.
- Use scales and volume measures to apportion product correctly.
- Inventory stock, restock, move bulk product from pallets to storage areas, and face shelves of deli cases on sales floor.
- Maintain area and conduct business in accordance with all federal, state and local weights and measures, food safety and sanitation regulations and company policies, procedures and guidelines
- Perform temperature and tare checks daily.
- Adhere to uniform and grooming policy as defined within company policy.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory, and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position :
- Ability to follow company customer service procedures. Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
- Must meet the minimum requirements to interview and pass interview for promotion.
- Ability to interact professionally with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Must have the ability to read, write, basic math skills, and communicate in English.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to complete tasks assigned in expected time frame.
- Knowledge of products, product pricing, sales reports and department layout.
- Ability to make quality decisions and work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to give and receive direction.
- Ability to analyze reports.
- Ability to multitask while working under stress and time constraints.
- Ability to work varied shifts over a 24-hour operation.
- Must be 18 years old and be able to operate all deli department equipment.
- Reports to work in proper uniform per company policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The following attempts to communicate the traditional physical demands associated with this position:
