Assistant Controller
The Assistant Controller plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the HVAC company located far southwest side of SA. They assist in managing the accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing budgeting and forecasting processes, and helping maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements. They also work closely with operations to ensure financial insights are aligned with business goals-especially around job costing, inventory, and service revenue tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Manage job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting.
- Supervise accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll functions.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and local tax regulations.
- Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with project managers and service teams to ensure accurate job profitability tracking.
- Assist with external audits and tax filings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 7+ years of accounting experience, in construction, HVAC, or service-based industries.
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with union or prevailing wage payroll (if applicable).
- Familiarity with inventory management and purchasing workflows.
- Effective communicator and team player.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and process improvement.
