Assistant Controller Location: Castleton, IN (Onsite No Relocation Assistance) Experience Level: Mid-Level (5 8 years) Education: All education levels considered (CPA preferred) Visa Sponsorship: Not Available Industry: Financial Services / Real Estate Job Function: Accounting / Auditing Position Overview: A well-established property group with over 25 years of success in the real estate industry is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their collaborative and supportive team in Castleton, IN. This is an ideal opportunity for an accounting professional particularly one looking to transition out of public accounting who values autonomy, training opportunities, and long-term career growth. Key Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash management. Utilize Avid Exchange for automated contract, audit, and inspection processes. Reconcile commercial and residential leases to support rent recovery. Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial reports, including bank reconciliations and financial statements. Support financial audits and tax preparation processes. Transition into handling cash management responsibilities within the first 90 days. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting. Background in public accounting (required). Experience in real estate accounting (required). Proficiency in Avid General Ledger software and strong working knowledge of GAAP. Skilled in financial statement preparation and reconciliation processes. Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Self-starter with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Work Environment: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (occasional extended hours during peak periods, such as tax season). Onsite role in a friendly, small-team environment with direct access to leadership and mentoring.
