The Assistant Controller will report to the Controller and support the accounting and finance teams in a wide range of areas. S/he will be responsible for many day-to-day duties as well as ad-hoc and project-based tasks that support the business and growth at Nederveld.


Essential Functions

Support day-to-day accounting operations including A/P, A/R, general ledger, and journal entries providing backup and help when needed.

Assist the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely accounting information by supporting and optimizing the month and year-end process where necessary

Assist in the preparation of various financial and operating reports

Identify and recommend cost savings strategies and solutions to scale growth effectively

Seek opportunities for efficiency in financial processes and contribute to their implementation

Assist the Controller with various initiatives including special projects, team training, and leadership support


Essential Skills for Performing the Job

Highly organized and detail-oriented with a big-picture perspective

Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and principles with insightful analytical skills

Great understanding of financial systems and accounting software

Excellent communicator with a focus on explaining financial concepts and recommendations to a broad audience

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate practical time management skills by completing assignments within a given due date

Self-motivated, constantly looking for ways to add value to the team and organization, and is proactive in their approach to work

Strong desire to help the team in whatever way possible

Builds and maintains positive working relationships, is empathetic toward others

Life-long learner with a growth mindset and committed to professional development


Preferred Skills for Performing the Job

Familiarity with Microsoft products including Business Central Dynamics 365

Demonstrated history in identifying and implementing financial process improvements

Enjoys financial technology and teaching that to others

Previous role(s) in functional accounting preferred


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

3-5 years (or more) of accounting experience in progressively responsible roles

CPA or CMA preferred


Position Type/Expected Hours

This is a full-time onsite position. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but s/he must be available during the standard work hours of 8:00AM to 5:00 PM.


Physical Demands

This position is largely sedentary. An employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, and hear.
