LHH is working with a financial services firm in Fort Worth that is adding a new Assistant Controller to their team. In this role you will oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, ensuring compliance with GAAP, OCC regulations, and agency requirements while establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures to guide financial decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Safeguard company assets by implementing and maintaining effective internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching new and existing legislation, consulting with external advisors, and filing financial reports.
- Advise management on financial actions and potential risks.
- Manage the processing of expenses and the associated booking.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, providing training and performance appraisals.
- Stay updated on changes in technology and regulations that may impact the accounting function, driving innovation and ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Interact with auditors and regulators, responding to inquiries and providing necessary details as needed.
- Administer the uniform accounting system for budgeting purposes.
- Prepare and present financial reports.
- Oversee general ledger account reconciliations.
- Monitor day-to-day accounting operations to ensure efficiency.
- Supervise the accounting staff and ensure accurate execution of accounting functions.
Job Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in public accounting, banking, or mortgage banking.
- 5+ years of experience managing an accounting team.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Mortgage servicing and banking experience is a plus.
