ASSISTANT COACHfor Varsity Football, Saline High SchoolJOB DESCRIPTIONSaline Athletics is seeking an outstanding individual to assist our Varsity Football program as an Assistant Coach. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification - High school diploma or GED
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or the ability to obtain)
Preferred Education/Certification - Coaching education or sport-specific certifications (e.g. CAP 1, CAP 2, etc.)
Required Experience - Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport
- Demonstrated ability to support a total sport program within the framework of the athletic department
- Knowledge of relevant sport rules and MHSAA regulations
Preferred Experience - Experience coaching at the high school level
- Experience collaborating with coaches, athletes, and community programs
- Background in athlete development and training
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES - Assist the Head Coach in organizing and delivering practices, games, and team activities
- Instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and conditioning necessary for success
- Promote good sportsmanship by modeling appropriate behavior and serving as a positive role model
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and school personnel
- Support athletes' academic, personal, and athletic growth
- Assist in supervising team members during practices, competitions, and team functions
- Help coordinate equipment, uniforms, travel plans, and other team logistics
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as directed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director

- Organize and coordinate responsibilities under direction of the Head Coach

- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDSWork in school environments including indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. Requires physical stamina, communication skills, and mental alertness. Includes standing, walking, lifting, and navigating athletic spaces. Travel may be required for away contests and practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervise athletes during all team-related activities. Reports to the Head Coach.
EQUIPMENTUse and maintenance of athletic equipment relevant to the sport.
TRAVELTravel required for practices, games, and events.
WORK SCHEDULESeasonal with some year-round program responsibilities. Practices and competitions typically occur after school hours and on weekends.
