Job Summary

Bowdoin is seeking an Assistant Coach of Football to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the intercollegiate football program. This includes:
- Leverage expert teaching skills and technical knowledge to collaboratively plan, organize, and conduct effective practices, providing strong analytical insight to develop individual and team strategies that align with performance goals. There may be a component to teach Physical Education classes and/or assist with other sports as needed
- Collaborate with the head coach to assess team needs and establish clear recruiting strategies, ensuring the identification and recruitment of academically qualified student-athletes in compliance with NESCAC and NCAA regulations
- Train, mentor, and guide a team of support staff, including team managers and game management personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive environment
- Efficiently manage administrative tasks such as budget oversight, travel requests, and facility coordination and maintain a flexible approach to support departmental initiatives, including working with media and/or other departments/committees
Please note that individuals with interest and experience as an Assistant Coach for Football are encouraged to apply. While there is flexibility in the position, preference will be given to candidates with experience as an Offensive Line Coach.
Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:
- The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $60,000 - $62,000

Education/Skills Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field, or a minimum of 5 years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level and/or professional competitive experience
- Current CPR , AED , and First Aid certification or obtained upon hire
- Strong knowledge of football skills and strategy
- Working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC regulations
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet the standards of the College's current Motor Vehicle Policy is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to motivate and engage student-athletes and work effectively with a culturally-varied student body
- Strong administrative skills, including prioritization, organization, and budgeting
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and perform well under pressure
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
- At least one year of experience coaching at the secondary or post-secondary level
- Experience as an offensive line coach highly preferred
- Experience working in a competitive collegiate environment highly preferred
- Experience recruiting to a highly selective institution highly preferred
Standard Work Days and Hours
- As a full-time (.75 FTE ) position, coaches may work greater than 40 hours per week in season of primary sport and varied weekly hours out of season. Weekend and evenings may be required
- Coaches are expected to be on campus during the academic year (late August - Reunion Weekend in June) and are expected to keep hours during this time that make them readily available to students
- It is expected that coaches will recruit during the summer months requiring possible additional travel
- Frequent overnight travel with student athletes is required during the football season
