Job SummaryThe Assistant Coach will assist the head coach maintaining and /or enhancing every aspect of the intercollegiate athletic program as part of the mission of State College of Florida.
The Assistant Coach position is a part time as needed stipend position and will be paid at a rate of up to $8250 annually.

Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:
- The Assistant Coach is expected to play a positive leadership role in helping the college effectively manage change.
- The Assistant Coach will be responsible for knowing and abiding by all SCF, Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA), National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), conference, and sports specific policies and procedures, and is expected to loyally support all policies, procedures and decisions/interpretations rendered by these agencies, coaching staff and Athletic Director.
- The Assistant Coach will provide leadership to the athletic program in the development of their sport.
- The Assistant Coach will be responsible for assisting the head coach in the coaching, recruitment (to a 4-year school) and selection of student-athletes, budgeting, stats, social media, scheduling of games, promotions, player development (weight room and conditioning) and public relations.
- The Assistant Coach is expected to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner being a positive role model for his/her players.
- The Assistant Coach will participate in fund-raising projects, assist the Head Coach with monitoring of the academic progress of student-athletes, and work to assure successful rate of graduates commensurate with SCF students.
- The Assistant Coach will provide monitoring of their players specifically and all student-athletes in generally who are on scholarship in the housing facility.

Bachelor's degree preferred but not required, at least two year of experience at a related level, preferred but not required. College playing experience at a related level is preferred but not required.
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, leadership, decision making, and supporting the overall athletic program, student activities and college.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform calculations on standard measures of American currency and weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram/chart form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete changes in standardized situations.

- Certificates and Licenses:
CPR certification or ability to obtain. Valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain and maintain.
Responsibility for People and Property: Care and maintenance of sport equipment and facility
Responsibility for Communication: Position has routine contact with SCF staff, administration, faculty and students.
Position has frequent contact with general public, including prospective students, vendors, community members, and other athletic agencies or institutions.

- Environment will vary depending on which sport. More weather factors with softball, baseball, beach volleyball and tennis than with volleyball and basketball.
- The noise level is based on interaction with people at practices, games, and events, but moderate to loud would be appropriate.
- Ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends.

- Will vary depending on demands of sport. Will have to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, talk and listen.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift up to 25 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs. Position also requires good vision (natural or corrective).
