Position Details
General Statement
Responsible for assisting with directing the Montana State University's Strength & Conditioning Training program in Bozeman, Montana. The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach reports directly to the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, including adhering to all Departmental, University, Big Sky Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations; cooperate with all coaches and administrative staff within the intercollegiate athletics programs to enhance overall departmental operations.
- Monitor the conditioning and training of student-athletes in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coaches and athletic training staff. Assist in planning and administering the off-season training program.
- Assist in coaching student athletes including evaluating their performance in practices and competition and providing leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies, as required.
- Assist with scouting and recruitment of student athletes, specifically with on-campus visits of prospective student-athletes, as assigned.
- Participate in the collection and analysis of tactical and statistical data of teams and assist in designing strength and conditioning plans and strategies. Assist with the development of schedules for practice, including interfacing with departmental administrators.
- Assist with budget preparations, as requested, and operate within approved budget allocations; assist with planning and coordinating approved fund-raising activities, as assigned.
- Participate in clinics, exhibitions, and camps as approved.
- Perform all other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Strength and Conditioning, the sport administrator, and/or the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated and adequate experience in strength & conditioning coaching at the professional, collegiate level.
- CSCS and/or CSCCA certification.
- CPR / AED Certification.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Collegiate Strength & Conditioning coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level.
- Knowledge of/commitment to NCAA rules specifically regarding recruiting.
- Experience developing and motivating student-athletes for athletic and academic success.
- Demonstrated ability in coaching and in recruiting and monitoring for NCAA compliance at the NCAA Division I level.
- Master's Degree (preference in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field).
