Assistant Clinical Manager - Liver Institute
The Assistant Clinical Manager (ACM) is a leadership role responsible for facilitating patient flow and coordinating clinical activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. Serving as a key link between patients, staff, and leadership, the ACM supports clinical operations, staff development, quality improvement, and patient experience initiatives. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and clinical skills, often managing high-volume or complex clinics with multidisciplinary teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Acts as a resource for clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Shares accountability for patient experience, safety, and staff engagement.
- Promotes culture of mutual respect, open communication, and excellence in care delivery.
- Patient Flow & Clinical Operations:
- Manages day-to-day clinic operations and workflow.
- Oversees staffing, scheduling, supply chain, and throughput.
- De-escalates safety risks, resolves patient/family concerns, and fosters a therapeutic environment.
- Staff Supervision & Development:
- Recruits, trains, evaluates, and supports staff in collaboration with clinic leadership.
- Maintains competency records, audits, and fosters continuing education.
- Education & Evidence-Based Practice:
- Serves as a clinical educator and mentor.
- Supports professional development, certification, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Nursing Process & Clinical Excellence:
- Applies clinical judgment to optimize care delivery.
- Prioritizes safety, cost-effectiveness, and multidisciplinary coordination of care.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Licensure: Active RN license in VA or eligible compact state
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience, with at least 1 year as an RN
- Leadership experience preferred (e.g., charge nurse or similar role)
- Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills; cultural responsiveness
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty certification (e.g., ambulatory care, leadership)
- Academic healthcare or ambulatory experience
- Experience managing complex or high-volume clinical environments
