SALARY GRADE: Flat Rated This position is temporary, full time, and will end on June 30, 2025. The Office of the Clerk of Superior Court, Wayne County, seeks an individual to serve in the position of Assistant Clerk in the legal system of North Carolina. This position will consist of scanning Criminal and Traffic documents/files as well as assisting as needed in the process of preparing for Enterprise Justice. Candidate may also assist with the Estates Division and Special Proceedings. Knowledge of: NC general statutes; policies and procedures related to the local judicial district; civil proceedings and general office and clerical procedures. Skills in: basic math; active listening; managing a high volume of public interaction; effectively communicating both verbally and in writing; fast, accurate data entry; and MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to: read and comprehend legal documents; interact diplomatically with a diverse group of people; multi-task; adjust to unexpected events; meet deadlines; organize and manage files; work independently; maintain confidentiality; and provide procedural information without giving legal advice. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 18 years of age. Wayne County residents preferred. Management prefers applicants with professional experience working in a courthouse or law office.
