The Assistant Branch Manager plays a key role in the efficient operation of a First Harvest Credit Union branch. In partnership with the Regional Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing daily branch operations, coaching and developing staff, ensuring compliance, and delivering exceptional member service. Additionally, the Assistant Branch Manager drives sales and membership growth while fostering a positive, high-performance work environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Development & Performance Management
  • Mentor and develop employees by identifying growth opportunities, providing coaching, and fostering professional development.
  • Recognize and reward high-performing employees while holding staff accountable for performance, behavior, and attitude.
  • Conduct monthly performance meetings with each employee to review progress, set future goals, and develop improvement strategies.
  • Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best through positive influence and strong leadership.
Branch Operations & Compliance
  • Assist in the execution of branch operations, including supply and cash management, adherence to policies and procedures, and staff scheduling to ensure optimal coverage.
  • Enforce compliance with all safety, security, and regulatory measures, including dual control procedures, vault settlements, audits, and security inspections.
  • Serve as the acting Branch Manager in their absence, ensuring seamless branch operations.
Sales & Service Excellence
  • Drive branch performance by supporting individual and team sales goals, providing coaching, and acting as a role model.
  • Ensure the branch consistently meets or exceeds sales and service objectives set by First Harvest Credit Union.
  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support for the organization's mission, values, and long-term objectives.
  • Proactively resolve escalated member issues within designated authority levels to maintain high service standards.
Leadership & Team Engagement
  • Foster a well-trained, highly motivated team while maintaining a positive and inclusive work environment.
    • Assist in conducting staff meetings, updating employees on promotions, policies, sales goals, and operational updates.
    • Encourage staff participation in training and professional development programs, including compliance and lending development courses.
Community Involvement
  • Represent the credit union at community events, promoting engagement and strengthening relationships with members.
  • Support initiatives that align with the credit union's mission and community outreach goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial services, with a strong background in lending, sales, and member service.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience within a credit union or banking environment required.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) preferred - Ability to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking members and team members.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer lending, regulatory requirements, and loan processing.
  • Proven ability to drive sales, business development, and operational efficiencies while maintaining high member service standards.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to effectively address member concerns and operational challenges.
  • Familiarity with credit union products, services, and compliance regulations.
  • Experience with DNA core systems (preferred but not required).
  • Willingness to travel to other branches or company events as needed.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands require a person to be able to stand for a period of up to eight (8) hours per day and lift items estimated in weight of 5-10lbs or more.
